The Federal Government has earmarked ₦2.47 trillion in the 2026 budget for the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and expansion of 124 critical roads across Nigeria, aimed at strengthening connectivity, supporting trade, boosting agriculture, and driving economic growth.
Key priority corridors include the Abuja–Lokoja Road, Enugu–Port Harcourt Road, Kano–Katsina Road, Aba–Owerri–Ikot Ekpene Road, Borno–Kano Road, Ikorodu–Shagamu Road, as well as access roads linking the Second Niger Bridge to Onitsha and Asaba.
From major highways to rural feeder roads, these investments are designed to improve market access, reduce logistics costs, ease the movement of people and goods, strengthen cross-border trade, and connect farming communities to processing centres and commercial hubs.
The projects also cover strategic infrastructure such as the Gbaji–Apa–Owode Road leading to the Seme border, Ibi Bridge in Taraba State, Kano–Dayi Road, Abeokuta–Ibooro Road, and the upgrade of Ekiti Cargo Airport.
This initiative goes beyond road construction; it represents a deliberate investment in economic productivity, regional integration, food security, industrial growth, and national development.
Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to expand critical infrastructure and strengthen connections across both the North and South.
