The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed allegations levelled against the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh, saying its internal review found no grounds for disciplinary action and that the matter should now be left entirely to the courts.
The Force made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, who explained that the allegations had already been subjected to criminal investigation and prosecuted based on legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the statement, since the case is already before a competent court, the Police will not engage in public arguments over issues that are now the subject of judicial proceedings.
The clarification followed allegations made on social media by activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, against the senior police officer.
The Police disclosed that, in keeping with its internal accountability procedures, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department invited AIG Jimoh for questioning. After reviewing the available facts, the Force concluded that there was no basis for any further administrative action and directed that the matter should proceed through the judicial process.
The statement further revealed that the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja had, on July 30, 2026, invited VeryDarkMan to appear before investigators and present evidence to substantiate the allegations he made publicly.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, discipline and the rule of law, the Nigeria Police Force stressed that all officers remain accountable under the Constitution, the Police Act 2020 and the Force’s internal regulations, regardless of rank.
The Force also urged VeryDarkMan to honour the invitation extended to him, insisting that both the investigative process and the ongoing court proceedings should be allowed to run their lawful course without undue public interference.
