The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the ECN Board, for signing an Executive Order mandating the direct remittance of all oil and gas revenues to the Federation Account.
According to Dr. Abdullahi, the move represents a bold and timely reform that demonstrates exceptional leadership ingenuity, as well as a firm commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline, and adherence to constitutional order. He noted that by curbing wasteful spending and eliminating duplicative structures, President Tinubu has taken a decisive step toward restoring confidence in Nigeria’s energy governance and public finance architecture.
The Executive Order is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s energy sector by unlocking resources for strategic investments, enhancing institutional accountability, and providing a stable foundation for long-term energy planning. Dr. Abdullahi emphasized that the measure also reinforces the role of science and technology as critical drivers of energy security, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
“This landmark decision reflects the President’s statesmanship and deep resolve to safeguard national resources for inclusive development and future generations,” Dr. Abdullahi said. He added that the ECN remains fully aligned with the transformative vision and is committed to supporting its successful implementation.
