The Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, has disclosed that interested Nigerians who undergo training in indigenous machine fabrication through the Council will be issued an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) certificate through the University of Science and Technology.
The proposed opportunity is open to interested individuals, youth groups, communities and other organisations willing to send participants to acquire practical skills in fabricating machines using locally available raw materials.
According to the DG, participants who successfully complete the training will receive the diploma certificate, providing formal recognition of the technical knowledge and skills acquired during the programme.
The initiative is aimed at equipping young Nigerians with the expertise to fabricate different types of machines, identify and source locally available raw materials, and establish businesses that can generate income and employment.
Professor Ike-Muonso is therefore encouraging interested communities, organisations and government authorities to identify and mobilise youths who are willing to acquire these skills and become self-reliant.
The DG’s message is that young Nigerians can become job creators rather than job seekers by acquiring the knowledge to fabricate machines and harness the country’s raw materials for wealth creation.
