From Military Barracks to Multi-Billion Naira Empire, Real Estate Mogul Attributes Success to Faith, Not Rituals
When journalists recently asked billionaire businessman and President of Ochacho Group, King Mohammed Adah Ochacho, what the secret of his phenomenal rise was, they expected a talk on strategy, market foresight, or capital.
Instead, he brought out a book.
His Bible.
“That is what makes me tick. The Holy Bible makes me thick,” he said simply.
For a man whose business interests span real estate, hospitality, oil and gas and entertainment, and who recently dominated headlines after gifting popular content creators Peller and Jarvis a N400 million mansion as a wedding gift, the declaration was both disarming and definitive.
King Ochacho, born on August 25, 1977 in Kaduna State to Mr. Benson Adah and Hajiya Hauwa Ali Ochacho Aloga, hails from Otukpo in Benue State. Raised in a military barracks where his father served as a military nurse, he had his early education at Army Day Nursery and Primary School, Makurdi, and Saint Francis College, Otukpo, before studying Economics at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He describes himself as self-made, rising from living in a modest two-bedroom apartment to owning luxury properties across different countries. He is the founder, president and Chief Executive Officer of Ochacho Group, a conglomerate with interests in real estate, hospitality and other ventures.
Yet, in an industry often dogged by speculation about the source of sudden wealth, Ochacho was unequivocal.
“Jesus Christ is my refuge. All the money I have, Jesus Christ gave it to me,” he told the journalists who visited his Abuja residence. “I don’t do rituals. I am not into any other thing other than Jesus Christ.”
According to him, “Christ in me is the hope of glory.”
Sources present at the meeting disclosed that the businessman, to underscore his point, brought out his personal Bible and displayed it to the visitors who had come to inquire about the source of his success. He maintained that what has sustained him is not any fetish practice but faith.
“What really makes me thick is Jesus Christ and my Bible. Jesus Christ is what made it possible,” he said.
Over the years, King Ochacho has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s prominent property investors with projects stretching beyond Nigeria, and as a philanthropist with strong ties to the entertainment industry. But for him, the foundation remains spiritual.
At a time when material success is often associated with compromise, his message is a direct counter-narrative: that faith, hard work and resilience remain a viable path to wealth.
For King Ochacho, the balance sheet begins and ends with one book. The
