«“I didn’t give Peller the house so that he could advertise my son. It came from my heart,” Ochacho said.
He further clarified that the property is still under construction, urging bloggers and members of the public to allow the project to reach completion rather than drawing conclusions from its current state.
“The house is presently under construction. I just see a lot of bloggers online talking rubbish,” he said.
Ochacho stressed that the property was given freely and that there was no condition attached to the gesture.
“Something I gave free of charge with no condition,” he added, challenging critics to point to similar examples of individuals giving houses away without demanding anything in return.
“Have you ever seen someone giving out a house free of charge?” he asked.
The clarification puts the focus back on the unusual nature of the gesture and Ochacho’s stated intention that the property should be regarded as a goodwill gift rather than a commercial transaction.
His comments also suggest that the ongoing construction should not be interpreted as a failure to fulfil the promise, as work on the property is still continuing.
The development has continued to attract public attention, particularly because of the reported value of the property and the young personalities associated with the gesture.
