The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance against indiscipline and unethical conduct with the disengagement of forty-three (43) personnel found guilty of desertion, scandalous behaviour, and patrol misconduct.
The decisive action, announced by the Corps Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, underscores the management’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and operational excellence within the paramilitary organisation.
A breakdown of the disciplinary measures reveals that thirty-one (31) personnel were dismissed for desertion, five (5) for scandalous behaviour, and seven (7) for patrol-related misconduct. The affected officers were found culpable following established internal disciplinary procedures in line with the Corps’ regulations.
Speaking on the development, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, described the action as a firm and necessary step to preserve the sanctity of the Corps and maintain public trust. He stressed that the FRSC badge represents honour, responsibility, and service to the nation, adding that any personnel who violates the Corps’ standards would face the full weight of its disciplinary machinery.
According to him, desertion constitutes a grave breach of service oath and operational responsibility, particularly for a safety-critical organisation mandated to protect millions of road users across Nigeria’s highways. He further noted that acts of scandalous conduct and patrol misconduct undermine public confidence and contradict the Corps’ core values of discipline, transparency, and service excellence.
The Corps Marshal emphasized that the FRSC remains a structured and professional paramilitary agency guided by strict operational codes and ethical standards. He assured Nigerians that no form of indiscipline, corruption, or abuse of duty would be tolerated under his leadership.
He further disclosed that the Corps would intensify internal monitoring mechanisms, strengthen supervisory frameworks, and sustain ethical reorientation programmes across all Commands nationwide to prevent future occurrences.
The FRSC management reiterated its resolve to build a workforce driven by integrity, accountability, and unwavering commitment to public safety. It maintained that disciplinary actions are not merely punitive but are essential measures aimed at safeguarding institutional credibility and enhancing service delivery.
The Corps also called on the motoring public to sustain its confidence in the FRSC and continue supporting its mandate of ensuring safer roads and reducing traffic crashes across the country.
