The 6th edition of the annual EganyiXplorers tour has concluded, drawing renewed attention to the urgent need to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company. The event was organized by EganyiXplorers, a community-focused group bringing together indigenes of Ajaokuta from home and abroad to promote cultural heritage, unity, and sustainable development.

This year’s tour centered on the Ajaokuta Steel Plant, highlighting its historical importance to Nigeria’s industrialization and its potential to drive economic growth, employment, and technological advancement. During the tour, participants reflected on the plant’s history and the challenges that have stalled its operations for decades.

Discussions also examined efforts by successive governments to revive the complex, including interventions by the immediate past administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the ongoing commitment of the current Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The group acknowledged the industrial focus of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism that current policy directions could provide a viable pathway for the plant’s revival. Participants emphasized that success requires synergy between the federal and state governments, private sector investors, and host communities.

EganyiXplorers further stressed the readiness of the Ajaokuta people to support the process through cooperation and community ownership. According to the organizers, the successful reactivation of the company would have far-reaching benefits for both Kogi State and Nigeria’s broader economic landscape.

The tour concluded with a unified call for decisive action, encapsulated in the group’s core message: Ajaokuta Steel Company must work again for the prosperity of future generations
