By Suleiman Abdulmumin

The Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has inspected the ongoing Solar Mini-Grid installation project at the Commission’s headquarters, describing it as a major milestone in Nigeria’s drive toward sustainable energy development.

During the inspection, Dr. Abdullahi noted that the project aligns with the Commission’s commitment to renewable energy adoption and energy security. He explained that upon completion, the off-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) system will independently power the ECN headquarters, eliminating reliance on the national grid and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply.

According to the ECN boss, the initiative supports the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in advancing clean, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions across the country.

“This project represents a significant step toward achieving energy independence for public institutions while promoting environmental sustainability and operational efficiency,” he said.

Dr. Abdullahi further emphasized that the solar mini-grid project will serve as a model for renewable energy deployment in government establishments nationwide, demonstrating the viability of off-grid solutions in addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to driving innovative energy solutions that will accelerate the nation’s transition to a cleaner, greener, and more resilient energy future.

The Energy Commission of Nigeria continues to play a pivotal role in shaping policies and implementing initiatives aimed at transforming the country’s energy landscape through sustainable and renewable energy sources.
