The Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Engr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to advancing renewable energy development through strategic international partnerships.

Abdullahi made this known following a high-level engagement with a delegation from the Nigeria-China Renewable Energy Research Centre (NC-RERC), marking the first official meeting since the Centre’s establishment.

According to the ECN boss, discussions during the visit focused on strengthening collaboration, deepening renewable energy research, and identifying practical opportunities to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to clean energy.

He described the establishment of NC-RERC as a significant milestone, noting that the Centre was birthed through a strategic partnership involving the Energy Commission of Nigeria, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and China Energy International Group Nigeria Limited.

“The creation of NC-RERC demonstrates the power of collaboration in transforming shared ideas into sustainable energy solutions,” Abdullahi said.

He expressed optimism about the future of the partnership, emphasizing its potential to drive innovation, enhance local capacity, and support the development of renewable energy infrastructure across the country.

Abdullahi further reiterated ECN’s readiness to work closely with the Centre to ensure that Nigeria maximizes the benefits of clean energy in line with global sustainability goals.
