Former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, has congratulated Comrade Grace Ike on her historic election as the first female Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, 43 years after the council’s establishment.
Comrade Ike, accompanied by Council Treasurer Sandra Udeike and former National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) President Evelyn Onyilo, paid a courtesy visit to Dame Tallen at her Abuja residence on Tuesday.
While presenting a Christmas souvenir to Comrade Ike, the former minister expressed her best wishes for the newly inaugurated chairman and urged her to deliver outstanding leadership that would advance the council and its members.
In her remarks, Comrade Ike reaffirmed her team’s commitment to elevating the council’s status by prioritizing members’ welfare and enhancing the union’s public image.
Dame Tallen, a former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, commended the NUJ for its progressive strides and expressed confidence in Ike’s ability to lead the council effectively.
