As United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Co-ordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon paid two day working visit to Anambara state, a Data Operation Centre and Mbile Technology Health Insurance platform was launched.
The platform would boost Universal Health Coverage in the state, according to the state’s Commissioner for Health Dr Vicent Okpala, at Awka.
Speaking at the launch, Kallon explained that “the Data Operation Centre is strategic in making informed decisions and policies to drive a better healthcare access to residents,’ adding that ‘ the Centre meets international best standard’ and charged other states in the country saying, ‘I want to urge other states to visist Anambara and copy the reforms the state has implemented in the health sector.”
He said “we are impressed with the level of technology being maximised by the state Health Insurance agency to ensure access to quality healthcare in the state’ pointing out that ‘as an international body, we are committed to giving high technical assistance to the state to ensure quality healthcare delivery.”
The Anambara state Commissioner for Health, Dr Vicent Okpala said funding for the project partly came from contributions from the World Health Organisation and the European Union and that Kallon’s visit was a testimony that the project had been executed.
