The British Government has issued a fresh security advisory to its citizens living in Nigeria, warning them to exercise heightened caution in most parts of the country due to rising security threats.
According to the advisory, only two states Cross River and Lagos were listed as relatively safe for travel and residence.
The inclusion of Cross River State has generated widespread public interest, with many Nigerians expressing curiosity about the “magic wand” the state government is using to sustain peace and prevent major security breaches, including kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery, and other forms of violent crime.
Residents of Cross River have attributed the state’s stability to the leadership style of Governor Prince Bassey Otu, whose administration has placed premium emphasis on the protection of lives and property. Since assuming office, Governor Otu has consistently declared “Security First” as one of the cardinal pillars of his administration.
His proactive approach, strategic partnerships with security agencies, community engagement, and investments in intelligence gathering have earned him commendation from citizens who say they now enjoy a renewed sense of safety.
With the UK’s advisory placing Cross River among the only two states considered safe, many observers believe the recognition further validates Governor Otu’s efforts and strengthens the confidence of residents and investors in the state’s security architecture.
