As President  approaches his third year in office, supporters have highlighted a number of achievements they say are transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure, economy, and education sectors.

Foremost among the achievements cited are several major road infrastructure projects currently underway across the country. These include the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway linking Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo and Lagos States, as well as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, a 750-kilometre project expected to connect several states along Nigeria’s southern corridor.

Other ongoing projects include the Onitsha-Enugu-Benue-Taraba-Adamawa-Maiduguri Highway, the 422-kilometre Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Yobe-Maiduguri Road, the East-West Road expansion, the Trans-Sahara Highway, and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Super Highway.

Supporters argue that when completed, the projects will significantly improve transportation, facilitate trade, boost economic activities and strengthen national integration by linking more than twenty states across the federation.

In the education sector, the administration introduced the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), aimed at providing financial support to students and easing the burden of tuition fees on Nigerian families.

President Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy has also been described by supporters as one of the administration’s boldest economic reforms. They maintain that the policy has curtailed longstanding abuses associated with subsidy payments and redirected resources toward national development initiatives.

While acknowledging the economic challenges that accompanied the reforms, supporters insist that the measures are necessary for long-term economic stability and growth.

The administration has also been credited with increasing federal allocations to state governments, a development supporters say has enhanced the capacity of governors to meet financial obligations, including workers’ salaries and developmental projects.

Observers further note that the nation’s tertiary education sector has witnessed fewer disruptions from industrial actions, particularly by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), compared to previous years.

On the foreign exchange front, supporters say reforms introduced by the administration have helped reduce disparities between official and parallel market exchange rates, contributing to improved market stability.

As the administration marks its third anniversary, supporters contend that President Tinubu’s reforms and infrastructure drive have laid the foundation for sustainable economic growth and national development, despite ongoing debates over the short-term impact of some of the policies.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addresses Nigerians during a national event as supporters highlight key achievements of his administration in infrastructure, education, economic reforms and national development.
