The South Korea International Cooperation Association Nigeria (SKICAN) held its maiden Picnic and Networking Event recently in Abuja with the title “Relax. Connect. Grow.” The well-attended event brought together past and present members of the association, KOICA alumni, and dignitaries in a vibrant and relaxed atmosphere that fostered interaction, learning, and bonding.
In his welcome remarks, the President of SKICAN, Barrister Joseph Oboh, described the event as “a necessary platform to bring members together beyond formal settings.” He emphasized that the outing which is first of its kind in the FCT was planned within a short span of two weeks by the executives, showcasing their commitment to promoting unity and purposeful engagement among members.
He further assured that similar impactful gatherings would be organized regularly to create opportunities for members to network, learn from one another, and deepen their professional and personal growth.
Barr. Oboh used the opportunity to unveil dues payment structure, tailored for members’ convenience, and encouraged everyone to play active roles in the association’s development by fulfilling their obligations.
He thanked members for their generous support and contributions that made the event a success and specially commended KOICA for its unwavering support and contributions to the association’s activities.
Speaking on behalf of the Country Director of KOICA, Mr. Godwin Okwoche expressed gratitude to the SKICAN Alumni for initiating such a refreshing and meaningful gathering. He noted that the event was not only a time to unwind but also a rare opportunity for members to reconnect, share their training experiences from South Korea, and reaffirm their commitment to the mission of KOICA.
Mr Godwin Okwoche urged them to remain united and work collaboratively toward sustained success.
A major highlight of the picnic was the raffle draw, where lucky winners received tickets to attend the 2025 KOICA and SKICAN Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program in Jos. Gifts were also presented to winners by KOICA in appreciation of their participation and support.
The event was laced with lively entertainment, including dancing, games, and sharing fond memories and experiences sessions.
The event was graced by notable dignitaries and past leaders of the association, including Princess Tiwalade Fapounda, former Vice President of SKICAN; Malam Mohammed Buba, former General Secretary; Ms Pamela Mbanefo, Director/ Principal, Nigeria’ Korea Model School,(NKMS)and Barrister Zainab Hassan Ibrahim, among others.
SKICAN continues to stand as a platform for professionals trained in South Korea to collaborate, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
