Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun, has pledged continued support for the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, in the ongoing efforts to strengthen security across Lagos and Ogun states.
Eshilokun made the commitment when he paid a courtesy visit to the AIG at the Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, describing the Police leadership in the zone as critical to sustaining peace, protecting lives and property and confronting emerging security challenges.
The Senator, who is also Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, commended AIG Jimoh and officers under his command for their professionalism, dedication and sacrifices in the discharge of their duties.
He stressed the importance of stronger collaboration between elected representatives, security agencies and other stakeholders, saying effective security requires collective responsibility and sustained support for those entrusted with protecting the people.
Eshilokun urged the police to remain steadfast and committed to their constitutional responsibilities, assuring the command of his continued backing in its efforts to maintain law and order across the two states.
The visit was seen as an important show of confidence in the leadership of AIG Jimoh, particularly at a time when security agencies are being challenged to adopt more proactive and community-focused approaches to policing.
Responding, AIG Jimoh expressed appreciation to the Senator for the visit and his expression of confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The AIG said the gesture would further encourage officers and men of Zone 2 to remain committed to their responsibilities and continue working with stakeholders to create a safer environment for residents.
Jimoh reaffirmed the commitment of Zone 2 to strengthening community policing, improving collaboration with relevant stakeholders and sustaining peace across Lagos and Ogun states.
The AIG noted that effective policing could only be achieved through partnership with the communities and institutions the Police serve, stressing that the command would continue to pursue its mandate with professionalism, fairness and dedication.
The Senator’s endorsement further underscores the growing importance of collaboration between political leaders and security authorities in the collective effort to secure Lagos and Ogun and protect the people.
