The prestigious award was presented by the Women of Glory Foundation during its 10th Anniversary Celebration held in Abuja, where the NUJ FCT Chairman was also recognized as the “Most Active Journalistic Mobilizer” for her exceptional efforts in uniting and empowering journalists in the Federal Capital Territory.
Presenting the award, the organizers commended Grace Ike’s leadership style, describing her as a dedicated media professional whose contributions have continued to inspire journalists and advance national development through responsible journalism.
The event, which attracted women leaders, professionals, and humanitarian advocates from different parts of the country, celebrated a decade of impactful service by the Women of Glory Foundation in supporting widows, single mothers, elderly women, and other vulnerable groups through empowerment programmes, mentorship, healthcare support, and skills acquisition initiatives.
Representing the NUJ FCT Chairman at the ceremony, Sharon Emephia, Assistant Secretary of the NUJ FCT Council, conveyed Grace Ike’s appreciation to the organizers for finding her worthy of the recognition.
According to her, the award reflects the collective efforts of the NUJ FCT Council in promoting truth, professionalism, development, and social progress.
“Ten years of sustained impact is no small achievement. It reflects resilience, vision, and a deep commitment to service. In a time when many initiatives struggle for continuity, your decade-long journey stands as a testament to purpose-driven leadership,” she said on behalf of the Chairman.
Speaking further, Grace Ike expressed gratitude to the Women of Glory Foundation for the honour, noting that the recognition would serve as motivation to continue championing causes that uplift society and strengthen the journalism profession.
“I sincerely appreciate the organizers for this recognition. I receive this honour with gratitude and humility, and I see it not just as a personal award but as a reflection of the collective efforts of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, and the values we uphold in promoting truth, development and societal progress,” she stated.
Observers at the event described the award as a well-deserved recognition of Grace Ike’s impactful leadership and unwavering commitment to journalists’ welfare, media excellence, and community service.
