The Honourable Member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency and member of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Jibril Abu, was prominently present at the official flag-off of Kogi State’s sweeping school renovation initiative, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive and people-centered development.
The landmark programme was flagged off on behalf of the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo by the Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu, demonstrating the administration’s strong resolve to transform the education sector.
The initiative, coordinated by the Commissioner for Education, Hon Wemi Jones, through the Kogi AGILE Programme, targets the renovation of 728 public schools across the state, beginning with a pilot phase of 150 schools.
Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the programme, Hon. Jibril Abu stated that “it is an anathema for me to be part of any process where Ajaokuta is not identified as a priority for development.” He emphasized that his involvement remains firmly anchored on delivering tangible benefits to his constituents, adding, “we are in this for our people, and every opportunity must count for them.”
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the House Committee on Education to provide effective legislative oversight to ensure transparency, quality delivery, and sustainability of the project.
The flag-off marks a significant step in Kogi State’s drive to reposition its education sector, with Hon. Jibril Abu’s presence underscoring strong advocacy for equitable development and grassroots impact.
