Leading engineering and construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria PLC has once again reinforced its dominance in the region’s infrastructure sector after emerging as the 2026 Best Construction and Infrastructure Company of the Year (West Africa).
The prestigious recognition, presented Thursday in Lagos at the 15th edition of the West Africa Innovation Awards, marks the second consecutive year the company has claimed the coveted regional title.
Organisers of the awards said Julius Berger distinguished itself through outstanding innovation, professionalism, quality delivery, and customer service excellence, outperforming notable contenders including Micheleti Construction Ghana Limited and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
Speaking during the ceremony, Chairman of the Awards Organising Committee, Canmil Chineme, described the award as a recognition reserved for brands that continue to serve as pillars within one of West Africa’s most strategic sectors.
According to him, the selection followed extensive consultations and rigorous evaluation by a panel of judges and the Governing Board of the awards.
Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Julius Berger’s Director of Administration, Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, said the honour reflects the company’s more than five decades of unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, quality, safety, and nation-building across Nigeria and the wider West African region.
“This award represents more than a corporate achievement,” Kaita said in his acceptance speech. “We celebrate vision, resilience, and the transformative power of infrastructure in shaping economies, connecting communities, and improving lives”.
He noted that infrastructure development remains central to Julius Berger’s long-term vision, stressing that the company’s portfolio spanning bridges, highways, airports, seaports, hospitals, industrial facilities, and other landmark projects continues to support economic growth and national development.
Kaita added that the company remains committed to investing in innovative engineering solutions, sustainable construction practices, cold recycling technology, local content development, human capital empowerment, and Health, Safety and Environmental excellence.
“We are particularly proud that our projects continue to create jobs, stimulate commerce, improve connectivity, and contribute meaningfully to national development. This award will inspire us to do even more,” he said.
He dedicated the award to the company’s workforce, including engineers, technicians, architects, operators, artisans, administrators, and support staff whose dedication, he said, continues to sustain Julius Berger’s reputation as a leader in the construction and infrastructure industry.
The ceremony also recognised several other organisations for excellence in their respective sectors, including Sovereign Trust Insurance PLC, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, CRC Credit Bureau Limited, and West African Human Resource Outsourcing Company.
