The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, is set to receive a prestigious Best Government Agency Award being organised by Aljazirah Nigeria, in recognition of the Council’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s industrial development and economic transformation.
The forthcoming recognition is expected to spotlight the renewed energy and strategic direction that have characterised the RMRDC under the leadership of Prof. Ike-Muonso, particularly in the areas of raw materials development, research, innovation, local sourcing and value addition.
Since assuming leadership of the Council, Prof. Ike-Muonso has pursued initiatives aimed at repositioning the RMRDC as a critical driver of Nigeria’s industrialisation agenda, with greater emphasis on transforming the country’s abundant raw materials into productive economic assets.
The proposed award is coming at a time when the Council is intensifying efforts to promote local production, strengthen industrial value chains and encourage the processing of Nigerian raw materials locally rather than exporting them in their raw form.
Through stronger collaboration with manufacturers, researchers, government institutions, academia and other stakeholders, the RMRDC has continued to advance initiatives designed to bridge the gap between Nigeria’s raw material resources and its industrial needs.
The recognition by Aljazirah Nigeria is therefore expected to serve as an important acknowledgement of the Council’s growing relevance to Nigeria’s economic diversification efforts.
For Prof. Ike-Muonso, the forthcoming award is not merely a personal honour but a recognition of the collective efforts of the RMRDC workforce and its partners in advancing the development of Nigeria’s raw materials sector.
The award also comes as a morale booster for the Council to sustain its reform initiatives and remain focused on supporting local industries, creating employment opportunities, promoting innovation and contributing to a more competitive Nigerian economy.
As the country continues to seek sustainable pathways to industrial growth and economic self-reliance, the RMRDC under Prof. Ike-Muonso is increasingly demonstrating the strategic importance of raw materials development to Nigeria’s future.
The presentation of the award, when held, is expected to further shine the spotlight on the Council’s ongoing efforts to make “Made-in-Nigeria” production stronger, more competitive and more sustainable.
