In a remarkable show of empathy and commitment to service, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State and Chairman, House Committee on Customs, has earned the admiration of journalists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for his generous support to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council.

Hon. Abejide, a ranking member of the House of Representatives, has continued to distinguish himself as a man of integrity with an impressive track record of promises made and fulfilled. His leadership style, rooted in sincerity and compassion, has endeared him to his people and colleagues alike — a testament to why his constituents describe him as tested and trusted.

Recently, Hon. Abejide attended a Security Summit organized by the NUJ FCT Council at its Secretariat in Utako, Abuja. The event, which brought together the FCT Commissioner of Police and heads of other security agencies, aimed to strengthen collaboration between the media and security institutions for a safer society.

During the summit, the honorable member noticed that the hall was stuffy and uncomfortable due to poor ventilation and lack of functional air conditioning. Moved by the situation, Hon. Abejide immediately pledged to provide five units of Henise Standing Air Conditioners to improve the working environment and support the union’s activities.

True to his word, not long after the event, the promised air conditioners were delivered at the NUJ FCT utako a gesture that brought excitement and appreciation among members of the union.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the council, the Chairman of NUJ FCT, Comrade Grace Ike. commended Hon. Abejide for his generosity and sense of responsibility, describing him as a leader who truly understands the needs of the people.

Also reacting, Ms. Peace Uloma Okorie, Publisher of NewsXtra Magazine, praised the lawmaker’s honesty and fulfillment of promises.
According to her, “Not all politicians are honest or dependable, but when you find one who keeps his word, you should hold him like an egg. Promise made and fulfilled brings joy, trust, and renewed hope to the people.”

Hon. Leke Abejide’s gesture has not only brought relief to journalists in Abuja but has also further cemented his reputation as a man of action whose legacies continue to speak loudly  both within and beyond his constituency.
