The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, mni, has extended his warmest congratulations to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on his historic election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council.
Describing the appointment as a recognition of the CG’s dedication, visionary leadership, and passion for excellence, the Corps Marshal praised Adeniyi for repositioning the Nigeria Customs Service as a model of professionalism and efficiency on the African continent.
He stated, inter alia, that: “The emergence of CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as Chairperson of the WCO Council is not only a personal accomplishment but a national pride. It reflects Nigeria’s competence and the confidence the international community reposes in our capacity to contribute meaningfully to global governance in trade and customs management.”
In a related development, the Corps Marshal also congratulated Nigeria and the FRSC on the Corps’ recent election as the Permanent Secretariat of the Africa Association of all Road Safety Lead Agencies (AARSLA).
He described both accomplishments as further evidence of Nigeria’s growing influence on the global stage — especially in customs administration, road safety, traffic management, and trade facilitation.
Commenting on FRSC’s new role in AARSLA, the Corps Marshal emphasized that the strategic position will enable the Corps to coordinate road safety initiatives across Africa, promote best practices, and foster partnerships to achieve the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety targets.
The dual victories of these two prominent institutions — the Nigeria Customs Service and the FRSC — underscore Nigeria’s rising leadership in global trade facilitation and continental road safety management. These milestones pave the way for greater collaboration, capacity building, and collective progress for Nigeria, Africa, and the global community.
The Corps Marshal also expressed gratitude to President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for creating an enabling environment for national agencies to thrive through strategic support and commitment to their mandates.
He reaffirmed FRSC’s commitment to strengthening ties with sister agencies like the Nigeria Customs Service to build a safer and more prosperous nation.
