Eganyi United FC Crowned Champions of Maiden Ohinoyi’s Cup 2025

Eganyi United FC has been crowned the champions of the maiden edition of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland Football Competition 2025, defeating Okaito United FC 5–3 on penalties after a goalless draw at the Okene Mini Stadium, Okene, Kogi State.

The keenly contested final attracted a massive turnout of football fans, with supporters also following the match through live streams across various locations.

Despite being rated underdogs, Eganyi United FC delivered a disciplined and resilient performance against the star-studded Okaito United side. Both teams created chances, but outstanding goal keeping particularly from Angulu Rabiu of Eganyi United FC kept the scoreline level until the end of regulation time.

The atmosphere heightened before the second half when His Royal Majesty, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Dr Ahmed Tijjani Muhammed Anaje, arrived at the stadium alongside other dignitaries, drawing cheers from the spectators.

Eganyi United FC maintained composure during the penalty shootout, converting all five spot kicks, with Olorunfemi Saturday scoring the decisive goal to seal the historic victory.

At the award ceremony, Olorunfemi Saturday was named Man of the Match, while Angulu Rabiu clinched the Golden Gloves award. The champions’ celebrations were further boosted when Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General of the Energy Commission, announced a ₦1 million support for the team.
