The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Mr. Mustapha Abdullahi, was presented with an enviable ‘Jagaban Matasa Arewa/Icon of Northern Youths’ award for his immeasurable effort in furthering sustainable energy solutions and the cause of youth empowerment. He received the award from the Northern Youth Assembly because of relentless efforts to lead the transformation in the energy sphere in Nigeria while ensuring that the building of future leaders is achieved.
In a post-award speech, Abdullahi showed his deep appreciation, taking the honor as confirmation of his commitment to building a better future for the energy industry in Nigeria: “I am deeply humbled to receive this prestigious award. This recognition affirms my commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions and empowering the next generation of leaders,” he said.
He further expressed his determination to continue working with major stakeholders towards the fulfillment of his commitment to Nigeria’s energy goals, which include full participation by the nation’s youth in bringing about a more sustainable and energy-efficient future. “I am still committed to leading the transformation of Nigeria’s energy and creating a better life for the nation’s youths,” he added.
The recognition by the Northern Youth Assembly is only an acknowledgment of Abdullahi’s great contributions, but also serves to reinforce the notion that such efforts in patriotism need to be galvanized en bloc if the country is serious about its aspirations in energy.
