Tech On Street Empowers 150 Kogi Youth With Digital Skills

Kogi State is about to be taken over by a technological revolution through the largest tech empowerment event in the state, Kogi Tech Xplode 2024. The event which take place from November 18th to 30th, 2024, and is being put together by Tech on Street, otherwise known as Digital Inclusion for all, in partnership with the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology.

With the theme “Bridging Divides, Building Opportunities,” the program aims to empower 150 youth with cutting-edge skills essential for thriving in a tech-driven world. Participants will gain hands-on training in diverse areas, including digital marketing, content creation, website design, graphic design, solar energy installations, and more.

Speaking about the program, Dr. Caleb Umoru, Convener of Tech on Street and a lecturer at Confluence University of Science and Technology, Kogi State, underscored the need to equip young people with practical skills. “The initiative ensures our youth are not left behind in an ever-changing world. Together we bridge gaps, create opportunities, and empower the future,” he said.

Dr. Umoru also announced that there would be the award of laptops and cash gifts for those who excel during the training, further reiterating that the program is out to reward excellence and ensure the coming of new ideas among the youths.

Outside the training sessions, Dr. Umoru extended the program’s influence to include Lokongoma and Adankolo markets in Lokoja. He gave cash gifts to market women and urged them to embrace digital marketing to expand their businesses.

He further sensitized them to ensure their children benefit from the free training program, stressing that such opportunities would secure their future without necessarily looking up to the government for jobs.

“Kogi Tech Xplode is not just a training; it’s a movement for transformation and self-reliance,” he said.

Participants are enthusiastic about being part of such a breakthrough initiative. “This training has opened doors for us to create value and contribute meaningfully to society,” shared one participant.

As Kogi Tech Xplode 2024 goes into its biggest stride, it continues to inspire hope and innovation. Thus, positioned with the combined efforts of Tech on Street, in collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Kogi State is poised to unlock its potential and position itself as a hub of technological excellence.
