The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, has intensified project supervision and monitoring across the state.
Hon. Abanika led his team on an inspection tour of ongoing construction projects at Kogi State University, Kabba on Thursday March 20, 2925.
The projects inspected include:
– Faculty of Science – handled by Ridge Prime
– Male Hostel – handled by Sil Estate Ltd
– Female Hostel – handled by Musalib Construction Ltd
– Senate Building – handled by AM Synergy
The Commissioner was accompanied by the university management team, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. K.I.T. Eniola. The joint inspection provided an avenue for collaborative evaluation of the ongoing works and strengthened engagement between the Ministry, contractors, and the university.
During the inspection, Hon. Abanika emphasized that his role goes beyond office-based duties, highlighting his commitment to on-site supervision to ensure that public funds are well-utilized.
“This is not an armchair office. We are out here, on-site, to fulfill the mandate of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, by ensuring that the people of Kogi get full value for every kobo spent on public infrastructure,” he stated.
Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Hon. Abanika expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the various sites. He commended the contractors for their cooperation and assured them that the Ministry would maintain close monitoring to guarantee high standards.
The Commissioner and the university management team also stressed the need for proper documentation from contractors and reiterated the importance of using standard materials as specified in the Bill of Quantities (BOQ). He warned that quality assurance would not be compromised under any circumstances.
Hon. Abanika further praised Governor Ododo for his unwavering commitment to the education sector, as evidenced by the scale of ongoing projects at Kogi State University, Kabba, and other tertiary institutions in the state.
“Our governor’s massive investment in education is a testament to his vision for human capital development. As a ministry, we are fully aligned with this vision and will continue working tirelessly to ensure the success of every project,” he added.
The inspection visit underscores Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and quality service delivery in all facets of governance.
