The Corps Marshal of the FRSC has ordered emergency deployments of more staff members, as well as heavy-duty tow trucks, along the Abuja–Lokoja Expressway to deal with the traffic congestion hampering holiday-going motorists.
In consideration of the plight of motorists who are in the thick of holiday season traffic, the Corps Marshal ordered that all bottlenecks must first be cleared for smooth movement.
However, what has happened is a heavy flow of holiday commuters crossing roads along with limited road capacity due to construction sites on highways; but what has caused even further delays is human mistake, where drivers described as “impatient and undisciplined” and driving contrary to flow are causing human-made bottlenecks to form, trapping others in a standstill.
While the officers are trying to sort out the lines, the FRSC is appealing to the heart and the patience of all the motorists on the road. This is because the only way that all the families can reach their destination is if everything is in order.
