Driven by a profound commitment to enhancing safety on Nigerian roads, the Chief Justice of the Federation, Honourable Justice Olukayode Ariwoola GCON, has become part of the esteemed cadre of Nigerians volunteering to bolster road safety as Honorary Special Marshals.
Conducting the investiture at the Supreme Court, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, alongside President of the Court of Appeal, Honourable Justice Monica Dongban-Mensen, expressed gratitude to the CJN for his stewardship of the Judiciary, upholding the rule of law. He underscored that Honorary Special Marshals are individuals of impeccable character who have served the nation with distinction.
In urging the CJN to reinforce existing laws with stricter penalties to dissuade road users from flouting regulations, the Corps Marshal highlighted the capacity and administrative prowess of the CJN, which will undoubtedly strengthen the relationship between the FRSC and the Judiciary.
Following the investiture, the Chief Justice emphasized that the recognition is not merely a personal honor but a reaffirmation of the collective commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all road users in Nigeria.
“I am reminded of the profound responsibility that accompanies this title. The Special Marshal arm of the FRSC plays a pivotal role in our society. Our mandate is multifaceted and crucial to the fabric of road safety.”
Offering a welcome remark during the investiture, the President of the Court of Appeal congratulated the Chief Justice for accepting this significant responsibility, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute to eradicating road traffic crashes in Nigeria.
