The spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Akindele Rotimi Jr mnipr representing Ekiti North 1 ikole / oye Federal Constituency, has declared the full support of the House leadership for the Grace Ike–led Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.
Hon. Rotimi assured that he, in collaboration with the House leadership, would work closely with the NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, to ensure that her dream of completing a befitting secretariat becomes a reality.
He described Grace Ike as “our own sister,” noting that she has covered the activities of the House of Representatives for many years with professionalism and commitment. He commended her historic emergence as the first female chairman of the council in 41 years, adding that the House would stand firmly behind her administration.
According to him, Grace Ike is “a good woman who served as Chairperson of the House of Representatives Press Corps with dignity,” highlighting that her two-term leadership was peaceful, rancour-free, and marked by positive contributions to parliamentary reporting.
Hon. Rotimi called on well-meaning Nigerians and stakeholders to support her vision of leaving the NUJ FCT Council better than she met it.
The event also featured the official laying of the foundation for the new NUJ building and unveiling of a new book titled ‘ the power her voice’ authored by Ben Ubiri on Grace Ike
