In his effort to advance Kogi State’s economic transformation, His Excellency, Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, has sent a delegation to the People’s Republic of China to seek partnerships and investment opportunities in the proposed Ajaokuta Free Trade Zone.
Amb. Hassiat Ozavize Suleiman, the Special Adviser on Strategic Investment and Liaison with Federal Agencies, who led the delegation on behalf of the State’s Chief Economic Adviser, reaffirmed Governor Ododo’s dedication to strengthening the state’s economy through industrial development, job creation, and international partnerships.
Amb. Suleiman highlighted the benefits of the proposed 3,000-hectare zone, noting its proximity to key infrastructure such as Geregu Power Plant, gas facilities, rail lines, road networks, and an airstrip.
The Chinese delegation included representatives from Shenzhen Hededa, a precision cleaning equipment conglomerate based in Shenzhen, and Shanghai Yaohan Co. Ltd., a biomedical and medical digital systems company headquartered in Shanghai.
The delegation expressed strong enthusiasm and praised the Governor’s vision. They indicated their readiness to participate in the project, viewing it as a promising gateway for manufacturing, logistics, and technology investments.
Amb. Hassiat is scheduled to meet with additional prospective investors in the coming days.
