FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed has issued a firm and immediate directive to all construction companies operating on Nigerian roads to ensure the adequate placement of road signs at every construction site nationwide.
This decisive order aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to transform Nigeria’s road infrastructure through extensive construction and rehabilitation works aimed at improving highway safety and efficiency.
According to the Corps Marshal, the directive is essential to protecting motorists and other road users navigating construction zones. He further ordered all companies to install, maintain, and consistently update proper road signage—whether the construction site is active or inactive.
To guarantee effective compliance, the Corps Marshal instructed all Commanding Officers across FRSC formations to commence strict enforcement of the directive without delay.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the recurring failure of some construction firms to provide adequate warning, information, and diversion signs around project areas, stressing that such negligence exposes road users to serious danger.
Reiterating that the directive is final and fully enforceable, the Corps Marshal assured that FRSC field commands will intensify supervision, and any contractor who violates approved safety standards will face decisive regulatory sanctions.
He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the Federal Government’s investment in road infrastructure translates into safer and more secure journeys for all Nigerians.
